The Yuin OK1s are a very special pair of earbuds. The reason why I call them earbuds is because they ultimately fail to function properly as canalphones or IEMs if you will. The biggest problem is that the fit is horrible. The design of the body just does not allow for a proper insertion which is a real shame. I was unable to obtain a good enough seal to do a normal long listening session, and I am usually pretty good at making things fit in my ear.
Despite the failure as an IEMs these earphones are absolutely superb as earbuds, they outperform their older sibling the PK1 by a large margin. Everything is just so well balanced with the OK1s that I have a hard time finding anything negative to say about them when used as earbuds. The only major negative as I see it is the fact that they need a decent amp to sound really good, but in my opinion the addition of an amp makes them so much better that it is justifiable. Of course transportability will be hurt a lot.
The only real problem with the new Yuin OK1s is that they are really expensive. Priced at a whooping $229 these are certainly not your average Joe earbuds. They do offer a remarkable sound quality, but you do need a amp to achieve it. For an audiophile these are the best earphones if isolation is not important when amped. They are lightyears ahead of any other earbud I have ever heard and they rival some of the better fullsize cans.
