  • Fair price
  • High ripple at 19V
  • 19V performance at Turn On Transient tests
The X-MAN is a higly interesting product, that's for sure. It features ultra small dimensions, it can deliver high power levels along with high efficiency and tight voltage regulation and also packs a 2A USB charging port which will be very convenient to most of the users. Also the ten exchangeable power-tips provide enhanced compatibility with all popular notebooks and the three basic protections (OVP, OCP, SCP) ensure your notebook's health at unstable power grids.
The only thing that really worries me in this product is the high ripple that the scope recorded at the main 19V rail. Apparently due to size restrictions Huntkey wasn't able to use a proper design or the suitable components to effectively suppress ripple so beyond 60% of max rated load I saw readings well over 120mV, the current ATX spec limit for +12V in desktop PSUs. As far as I know all notebooks have their own internal ripple filtering components to supress the ripple of the incoming DC voltage but this doesn't mean that a power adapter design should not pay attention to ripple suppression.

To sum up, if you are interested in a good power adapter with decent price/performance and your notebook needs around 50W DC then you could take a look at the X-MAN. For more power demanding notebooks personally I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that over 50W DC the adapter registers above 120mV ripple.
