A Closer Look

The 165 mm tall FI-REEX Deluxe is a large single-tower design comprised of forty four aluminum fins. The fins are soldered to traditional heatpipes and vapor pipes that transfer any heat from the vapor chamber's base to the fins.

The fin design is very simplistic and straightforward, with only a few slots for the fan clips and concave edges for better airflow. No dimples on the fins' surface, no holes punched through for turbulence. Instead, ID-Cooling went with a solid, simplistic design with a sturdy high quality heatsink.

The six Ø8 mm vapor pipes extend from the vapor chambers and go straight up through the heatsink, while there are two traditionally U-shaped heatpipes toward the heatsink's outer edges. When it comes to heatsink design, the FI-REEX Deluxe from ID-Cooling is definitely different, and the vapor chamber base and vapor pipes attest to it.

Flipping the cooler over puts the smooth base on display. It features a near-mirror finish that, while not perfect, is far from rough or full of milling marks. It is better than a great deal of the competition, but how shiny a base is doesn't seem to impact performance all that much. That said, it does give an idea of the heatsink's overall build quality, one of ID-Cooling's strengths.

The fans provided with the FI-REEX Deluxe are 140 mm x 25 mm in size, their model number HA1425L12F-Z. They are PWM, make use of a Hydraulic Bearing, and feature a 800-1600 RPM range. To further keep noise levels in check, the fans make use of rubber vibration dampeners. Lets not forget the brown color. While I am not a fan of the color, it does remind me of another high quality fan and heatsink manufacturer. Overall, the FI-REEX Deluxe is a high quality heatsink with high quality fans that are on par with the likes of Noctua's, and I, as such, tip my imaginary hat to ID-Cooling's attention to detail.
