Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Handheld Performance Review

Out-of-Box Experience

On SteamOS, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II works perfectly out of the box. All you've gotta do is download the game and run it, and you'll reach the main menu screen in a jiffy. The intro videos can be skipped, and the game doesn't include the shader precompilation step.

Performance is pretty good, we were genuinely surprised by how well KC:D II runs on Valve's handheld, which is more than a bit long in the tooth and wasn't exactly a supercomputer upon release. We didn't encounter any major glitches and bugs, with the only visual issue being certain trees switching to higher LOD meshes much closer than most other trees around them. We also didn't encounter freezes or crashes.

On Windows, things are the same. The game works great out of the box and doesn't require any tinkering.

In other words, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II provides a near-perfect out-of-box experience, unlike most AAA games released during the last couple of years.

As for controller support, the game comes with full support and plays excellently with a controller. As we've already said, we think that swordplay and fist fighting work better with a controller because the right analog stick works much better than a mouse for KC:D II's unique combat.
