Introduction
KRK Systems produce a large variety of professional audio gear ranging right from high-quality headphones to incredibly precise active speakers. We have recently covered their ventures into headphones with the
KRK KNS-6400 and
KNS-8400 reviews. Today, we will be taking a dive into their lower-end segment of active speakers. KRK's entry level active speakers start at a whopping $400 a set, which is a lot compared to active speakers conventionally aimed at PC desktop use. You can, since they are active, hook them up to your PC to use them just as you would a set of PC speakers - no need for a dedicated amplifier here.
A recent survey conducted right here showed that the majority of users actually prefer speakers to headphones for PC use. Most of the manufactures that cater to the PC industry have fairly limited options when it comes to quality active speakers. The active speaker industry, on the other hand, has very few speakers that reside in a price-range that would make things interesting for the regular music and gaming enthusiast. KRK Systems Rokit 5 shifts a lot of the features from expensive speakers in KRK's line-up into the sub $400 price tier.
