KTC H27T22 Monitor Review - Good Value For Gamers on a Budget

Design and Ergonomics

The KTC H27T22 looks like a typical modern widescreen gaming monitor. A 27-inch flat panel, flanked by thin bezels, towers above the square base.

The bottom bezel is thicker compared to the other three. It has a centrally positioned KTC logo.

The base has a metal core and is covered in black plastic. It successfully makes the panel completely stable; it doesn't move or shake even if you accidentally hit the surface the monitor is sitting on. The stand measures 245x185 mm (9.65x7.28 in), so you don't need a massive table to have room for the KTC H27T22. The base is made so that it's possible to rotate the stand by 30° in both directions, effectively swiveling the screen to the left and right.

The panel and the base are connected by a sturdy stand, which allows the panel to be adjusted in every direction. The stand has a rectangular hole which can be used for cable management. The hole is visible when the panel is propped as high as it will go, but quickly disappears from sight as soon as you push the panel down to a height that most users will find optimal.

The stand and the panel are connected by a joint that allows the panel to be tilted. Removing the stand reveals four VESA 100x100 mounting holes. Those can be used to mount the monitor to a standard table or wall mount.

The screen can be swiveled in both directions by 30°. The swivel motion can be performed with one hand, but if you want to ensure that the base of the monitor stays put in the process, it's a good idea to hold it down with your other hand.

The panel can be tilted from -5° to +15°.

Also adjustable is the height of the panel. In the top position, the distance from the table to the bottom edge of the screen is 175 millimeters (6.89 in), dropping to 45 millimeters (1.77 in) after pushing the screen as low as it can go. That gives the monitor a total height adjustment range of 130 millimeters (5.12 in).

The panel can be pivoted by 90° in either direction, too.

On the rear of the panel, KTC placed a W-shaped cutout. Its ends have built-in RGB LEDs, which automatically cycle between various colors. There are no effects to choose from, and the intensity of the LEDs is far too low for them to be able to light up a wall behind the monitor, making this entire feature pointless. The best course of action is to turn the LEDs off, which can be done in the OSD (Gaming Setup > RGB Light > Off).
