Use

Using the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader is quite simple. Just pop the top up and slide each card into place. You can have both of them inserted at the same time. A blue LED light lets you know when data is moving back and forth between the cards and the host system.

Lexar Professional 1000x CompactFlash 16GB

Lexar advertises the CompactFlash card with 150 MB/s guaranteed transfer speed. It is clear that this only goes for the card's read speed. Regardless, we only managed to push 130 MB/s across the entire memory of the Lexar Professional 1000x CompactFlash card. While this is still quite impressive, it is 20 MB/s short. In the end, we are looking at what the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader can deliver, and it certainly gives users the advantage of the USB 3.0 interface as both average read and write are well beyond what USB 2.0 can deliver.

Lexar Professional 600x SDHC UHS-I 16GB

Running the same benchmarks on the SDHC UHS-I card, the Lexar Professional 600x card delivers around 80 MB/s read, which is just short of the advertised 90 MB/s. Write is constant at 70 MB/s across the entire flash memory. The Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader does, once again, push well past what USB 2.0 can offer.

Performance USB 2.0

We benchmarked both cards using ATTO to make sure users with USB 2.0 know what to expect from this card reader. The combination of Lexar Professional cards and the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader managed to push USB 2.0 to its limit in both instances. We would expect nothing less.
