Inside the Case

Inside the Lian Li PC-P80R everything is anodized red to match the outside. This is a great design element, as one of the most common case mods these days is to paint the inside of the case. In the center of the case there is a large support bracket for the system's expansion cards, and this bracket can be removed to facilitate easier installation of system components.

The huge motherboard tray is removable, and there are vents behind the CPU area and one slot near the bottom of the motherboard area to allow some basic cable management. The tray slides toward the front of the case and then tips out to remove.

Looking up from the bottom of the case, there are four large aluminum feet with rubber inserts to keep the case steady and reduce vibrations. Also note the vented support below the PSU area. The top of the case is completely removable, but the user needs to remove six screws in order to do so. Under the top is a fourth 140mm red LED fan, which is also connected to the fan speed controller located behind the front door. One thing to note is that Lian LI has posted an optional top with dual 120mm fan locations will be made available for more watercooling options.

Along the front of the case are twelve 5.25" bays, but no 3.5" bays. To allow hard drives to be installed Lian Li includes two 5.25" to 3.5" converters that hold three drives each. Again, these are completely red-anodized to match the rest of the case, and they feature a vibration-reducing mounting method that Lian Li has been using for a while now. At the back of the case Lian Li has ten full PCI slots with vented brackets and secured with matching red thumbscrews. Unfortunately, all the thumbscrews included with the case are made of aluminum, not steel. I actually broke one of the thumbscrews during the installation before I realized there was a problem.
