The Power Supply

The EDGE 1300 W weighs in at quite a hefty 1.85 kg. When only looking at the specifications of the EDGE 1300 W, the PSU measures 182 mm in depth, implying bulk. While this is true for the long edge, once you start looking at the actual unit, it is actually quite compact. Not long ago this type of design would not be possible for units of this capacity. However, with the advancements in space-saving and increased efficiencies, the part of the PSU up until the edge dropoff is just about 135 mm, which would fit it into the standard 150 mm depth envelope even if we account for the additional space that would be required by the connector daughterboard.

At the back of the PSU we have just the socket for the C13 AC cable as well as the on/off switch. While the PSU does support a hybrid fan mode, there is no external button to toggle it.

The modular cable connector layout is, of course, the oddest feature of the PSU design. Besides the modular power cables we also have connectors for a USB hub.

The grille on the top facilitates plenty of airflow for the fan. And while it is bent in a modern-looking triangular pattern, at the same time it also is reminiscent of the classical boombox speaker grille.
