The Lian Li PC-O5S tries to go the more extravagant route by delivering an intricate interior with an interesting mixture of aluminum and glass. So, right off the bat, the chassis is not for those looking to get the most bang for their buck. Instead, this one is geared toward those who put form over function, with the exception that the PC-O5S is actually quite the engineering marvel from a functional standpoint.
While its exterior design elements are nice to look at, there is no direction, overall theme, or symmetry, which may make onlookers wonder about what Lian Li had in mind insofar the overall look is concerned. That is not to say the PC-O5S looks bad. Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, making it something I will not judge.
Internally, the chassis is actually quite the joy to work in, even though Lian Li has gone all out by included way too many spots for hard-drives. But such at least gives you the choice about where to place your drives, giving you the utmost in flexibility based on your collection of differently sized HDDs. All the various parts within also work extremely well together - from the PCIe ribbon cable and the four expansion-slot covers on to the ODD bay and 2.5" HDD mounting plate. The interior's design directive makes a lot more sense and banks on the strengths of Lian Li as a case manufacturer, resulting in a nifty looking chassis that can be stood up to still look sexy; with all the parts in the right spot, an extremely clean look, and the ability to really add a technological element to a work space or home theater without looking too flashy or over the top. Yet on the point of "flashy", Lian Li should really go for a much dimmer power LED. With everything said and done, The PC-O5S is a cool-looking chassis with a great and unique interior layout for a bit of everything - gaming, storage, home theater, and that elusive "WOW!" effect.
