Matrox has been in the Graphics card business quite some time and they were always known for producing superior image quality for everyday applications instead of best performance in 3D games. Their GXM series has only received praise. Our opinion of the TripleHead2Go is the same, but it does currently have a few downsides, which make it a bit harder to recommend over the TripleHead2Go Analog.
The biggest advantage is the fact, that it can handle three displays at 1680 x 1050 resolution each. With falling prices of large monitors, this is certainly a welcome feature of the digital GXM module. Achieving this resolution on the other hand, is no small feat. You are required to use modern NVIDIA graphics cards and Vista to be able to use every aspect of the TripleHead2Go. Even then you will only get the 5040 x 1050 resolution when using 2D applications. Gaming on the other hand seems to be limited to 3840 x 1024, which is also the maximum resolution the Analog variant is capable of. Nonetheless, the Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital is an excellent addition to the GXM family of products and the incredibly large screen real estate is phenomenal! So it certainly deserves the Editor's Choice Award.
