Mionix Naos QG Review

General Feel

The Mionix QG feels nice to the touch. It features a matte texture that is ever so slightly abrasive - it's hard to explain, but the mouse feels sturdy and you know there's no chance of slipping or other mishaps.

Shape and weight

The initial feeling was that the mouse must be at least 25% bigger than a normal gaming mouse - when I'm holding it, my entire palm rests comfortably on it, including the thumb and ring finger. With other mice, my wrist rests entirely on the gaming mat/mouse pad, which is totally not the case with the QG.

Upon taking a closer look and comparing it to the other gaming mice I have for review (in the picture above, in order: Logitech G402, Mionix Naos QG, and the Cougar Revenger), it looks like it's not that big - the size difference is more like 10%, and the increased comfort is due to some pretty clever ergonomics - the thumb rest looks minimal, but provides enough comfort without wasting space. There's a small indentation on the right side too, providing increased support for your pinkie without much hassle. Overall, a very nice design choice.

A weight of 105 g means that for a larger mouse, the Naos QG is surprisingly light. Since size and shape are a matter of personal preference, the lack of any additional weights might hamper those who prefer a heavier mouse.

Mouse Feet

The mouse feet are yet another item where I fell victim to my misconceptions. The Naos has a wider base, but when you look underneath it, you will notice that the feet themselves occupy about 50% of the mouse's base circumference. I thought that will hamper movement, but it turns out I was wrong - the mouse slides without any problems, even in fast movements.

Buttons and switches

The Naos QG has six buttons, and all of them give off a pleasant, loud click when pressed. My only issue is with the placement of the side buttons. The forward button is placed slightly too forward, meaning that whenever you're required to press it, the entire hand must be moved, rather than the thumb alone. Nevertheless, it's more of a small annoyance than an actual problem.

The mouse wheel itself has a nice, firm tactile feel when scrolling, making it a pleasure to use for both web browsing and in-game, where accuracy matters.

USB Cable

The Naos QG has a gold-plated USB jack and high quality braided cable. With its 1.8 meters, the lead is of a pretty standard length. Mionix has added a little velcro strip to it so that you may easily wrap it for transportation or shorten its overall length.
