Mixcder has lately been a popular choice among the constantly growing number of people who are after a pair of wireless noise-canceling headphones, but don't have a massive budget at their disposal or simply don't want to spend too much on a pair of headphones. By investigating the company more closely, you'll soon figure out that Mixcder doesn't make traditional wired headphones at all—specializing in a certain area is never a bad thing. I'd love to tell you where the company originates from, but their official website doesn't disclose that information. While I read some claims that it's an American company, their website and entire online presence makes me think that their products are engineered (and made) in China. By that I'm by no means trying to write them off as bad.

I'll be reviewing the Mixcder E8 today. Like the box says, these are wireless active noise-canceling headphones, which means they're battery-powered and built around a closed-back design. According to the official spec sheet, they can run for up to 18 hours on a single charge with active noise canceling turned off and 16 hours with ANC activated. They're equipped with a pair of 40-millimeter dynamic drivers with an impedance of 32 Ω, which is useful to know if you plan to at times run them in wired mode as that is another possibility they offer. The connection with sound sources is established via Bluetooth 4.0, with SBC being the only supported Bluetooth codec. There's no aptX, aptX HD, or LDAC support, nor would we realistically expect it at the price point of $70/€60. Like any other wireless headphones worth their salt, the Mixcder E8 also sports a built-in pinhole microphone which can be used for phone calls. The microphone requires power to work—in other words, when the headphones are used in wired mode, using the microphone is no longer an option.
