Telon Co., Ltd. is a Taiwanese company that has been around for over 30 years, with a background in the PC industry as a design and engineering firm in addition to supplying the occasional OEM help. It introduced a house brand—Montech—in 2016 to focus on the PC gaming market. Montech started out in the domestic market before slowly expanding overseas and this happened simultaneously with an aggressive marketing campaign that has resulted in several product reviews here on TechPowerUp already. You will notice that the vast majority of these are to do with PC cases and CPU coolers and today we examine a recently released Montech product that comes in a different category altogether.
As evident by now, the Montech AX120 is a 120 mm fan that features RGB lighting. This has become the norm rather than the exception in the past year, with PC case fans aiming to address the easier goal of adding LEDs on fans to meet consumer demands—there doesn't seem to be as much interest in pure performance-driven fans. What does make the AX120 more interesting to me is that it doesn't cost a lot either. In fact, I made it a point to not look at the cost of the fans until after I had finished testing them, only to then be pleasantly surprised. It comes in two color options and there is also a version with a reversed fan blade design! Let's thank Montech for providing review samples to TechPowerUp as we begin our coverage with a look at the product specifications in the table below.

Packaging and Accessories
Montech sent over two individual units of the AX120 PWM fans as seen above. As of the time I write this, the fan comes in black or white color options so I was glad to see one of each here allowing us to get a good look at both options. The product boxes for the fans are quite similar irrespective of which color you go with, although I appreciate Montech has taken the extra step in having the correct render of the fan on the front so you immediately know what they look like. On the front is also the brand logo and product name whereas we get a marketing blurb on the back alongside another render and a specifications table itself.
The writing on the side seems to confirm that the black color version is the default AX120 PWM with the white version specifically listed as such. Open the box from the top or bottom to pull out the fan right away—there is no extra packaging here so you are left to the whims of your courier and this thin cardboard box to protect the fan from any drops or worse. The only accessory here is a set of four metal self-tapping screws inside a plastic bag—not that I was expecting a lot from a more budget-friendly fan anyway.
