Installation
Installing the Montech Metal DT24 Premium is a relatively easy and straightforward process. To begin, remove the plastic AMD mounting brackets on the motherboard but keep the backplate in place. Then, using the AM4 spacer and AMD standoff, secure the backplate to the motherboard.
With the backplate secure, you can now position the mounting bracket over the standoffs and secure it with the included thumb screws. Once done, it is now time to apply thermal paste.
To install the heatsink, remove the top plate by sliding it down and then lifting it off. Once done, you can now use a long screwdriver to anchor the heatsink to the mounting bracket. Now attach the fans and then re-attach the top plate.
With everything secure, run your fan and ARGB wires as best you can and plug them into the proper headers. With that done, the Montech Metal DT24 Premium is ready to go.
While the mounting hardware may have some fiddly pieces, the fact is the Metal DT24 Premium was incredibly easy to install on both our AMD and Intel test benches. The standoffs used to secure the backplate on AMD make all the difference here, as it mitigates a great deal of frustration that can be encountered on competing coolers. Meanwhile, the tried and true backplate design for Intel's mainstream socket means there were no surprises here, either. Definitely a nice touch by Montech, as mounting hardware can be a troublesome design element even for more established brands.
