At first sight, the Montech Sky Two GX looks a lot more traditional with the metal mesh front and its intake fans. That said, the body is generally similar to the original Sky Two, but Montech has taken the opportunity to tweak a few things along the way.
The front is all mesh framed in plastic with three 140 mm ARGB equipped intake fans. The cover can be removed completely to give you easy access to the cooling units. In the rear the GX variant, while using the same general body as the original Sky Two, is a bit taller thanks to the updated top panels. This will give you additional room for potent liquid cooling in the ceiling of the chassis.
The main side panel of the Montech Sky Two GX is glass as well. A nice detail is the embedded handle to pull the hinged glass panel open. Unlike most cases that offer something to grab onto, Montech has formed the glass around the handle beautifully. You still get the signature bottom mesh panel, which is also found on the original Sky Two. On the opposite side, there is an all metal cover, which is held in place by thumb screws. An air vent with a magnetic mesh dust filter allows for fresh air access to any cooling installed in the side of the enclosure.
Starting at the bottom, the PSU bay sports two sets of mounting holes. Above that are the seven horizontal expansion slots, which are protected by reusable covers. As there are no dividing elements between these you should be able to use universal horizontal GPU mounting kits with the Sky Two GX. In the very top, there is room for a 120 mm exhaust fan. As the case features elongated cutouts for mounting, you may adjust the placement of such a unit to best suit your cooling needs. This means that the Sky Two GX ships with a total of three fans, compared to the four of the original Sky Two.
Speaking of the top, here you will find another fine perforated metal mesh cover under which there is a mounting bracket for up to three 120 mm fans or a 360 mm liquid cooling setup. Next to all this, there is the IO panel, which provides the usual mix of ports for a modern enclosure of this price point, made up of two USB 3.0, audio in/out plugs and a single USB-C. Montech has ditched LED toggle functionality and instead offers a proper Reset button again. Another small, but nice improvement is the fact that the USB-C port is no longer framed inside a square cutout, making for a cleaner overall look.
On the underside, there are two placement possibilities for the HDD cage underneath the shroud, judging by the mounting cutouts on the floor of the chassis. These look different that the ones found in the original Sky Two, so it suggests that Montech has improved this aspect in the Sky Two GX. Lastly, there is an easily removable dust filter which may be pulled out the back of the case for easy cleaning.
