In order to test the BLU-200, you have to get it to fit right first. Since it's slightly larger than your average in-ear, it takes a little messing about with before the fit is just right. You also have the cable with the remote dangling from one side, which means you got to tweak the position for a comfortable and snug fit even while it is moving around. The slightly stiff, flat cable is a bit bothersome; you can get it to work, but doing so is a bit of a hassle.
The tips supplied with the Brainwavz BLU-200 are pretty standard, but you do get a set of Comply S-400 tips, which always fit well and give you a really good sound quality considering they are out of foam. The odd ear hooks that are supplied do have some merit when moving around a lot. It makes the most sense to run them downward with my ears, which allows them to hook onto the lower portion of my ears' front. This makes the fit good enough for running around with, which is one of the most demanding scenarios in my book.
The sound quality is as you would expect of a $30ish set of wired in-ears, which is pretty good considering this is a wireless-ish offering. Battery life is as claimed when listening to normal music at in-doorish volume levels. Listen to music at very low volume levels and you do hear the noise floor ever so slightly, but move around and it is quickly drowned out.
Tuning is definitely geared more toward a decent bass response, which is a good call by Brainwavz as the BLU-200 will probably be used on-the-go or while out exercising. The bass is big and powerful and goes surprisingly low. The midrange is pretty good as well. The sound stage is pretty cramped, which you would only notice while sitting still for a critical listen in a quiet environment. Treble performance is OK, but a far cry from what you can get from a set of cheaper HiFiMAN in-ears, which are wired and somewhat tricky to get to fit right, though.
