Overclocking
The MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC has a lovely set of overclocking options, and the MSI BIOS is a pleasure to use. That said, the board performed the same as every other board I have tested with my Ryzen 5 2600X. I was able to run wPrime stable at 4.3 GHz and 1.35 volts, but trying to get another 100 MHz resulted in a failure to boot. The MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC does post at that frequency, which is more than most.
RAM overclocking on the MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC was also pretty painless. The board has two XMP profiles, one at 3866 MHz and another at 3600 MHz. The first failed to post, which was as expected. The second booted, but proved unstable with testing. I ended up manually setting the frequency to 3466 MHz for my overclocked testing, a very respectable overclock with this G.SKILL kit. The MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC proved itself as a very capable board for overclocking, despite the limitations of the Ryzen line.
