The MSI Immerse GH61 is a capable USB gaming headset. It's equipped with a pair of 40-millimeter speaker drivers which were installed by the famous hi-fi brand Onkyo, as well as an ESS Sabre DAC/headphone amplifier. Combined, they make for a balanced sound signature with a clean output and a massive amount of driving power. You can crank the volume up as high as you could possibly want without any distortions of the built-in speaker drivers. You can also use the ESS Sabre DAC/amp to drive any other headphones you might own as long as they're using the standard 3.5-mm audio jack. That's because MSI didn't affix the ESS Sabre module to the cable coming out of the headset, but rather implemented it as a standalone unit with a 3.5-mm audio input/output on the module itself, and a USB Type-A plug at the end of its 1-meter long cable. Smart thinking!

The MSI Immerse GH61 is very comfortable to wear too. Every part of the headset touching your head is heavily padded and very soft. MSI included two different sets of ear pads, made out of pleather and cloth fabric, so you can go with whatever is more to your liking. The build quality of the Immerse GH61 isn't the greatest. While it does feel robust and shows no sings of wear after two months of daily usage, its plastic ear cups are extremely creaky and squeaky when rotated, tilted, and pivoted around their joints. This drawback doesn't reduce the functionality of the headset because you won't hear any creaking or squeaking after you put it on your head, but it's very annoying regardless.

The retractable, unidirectional microphone gets the job done. Your teammates won't have any issues hearing and understanding you, although this isn't a microphone you'll want to use for more demanding purposes, such as live streaming or podcasting. The Nahimic for Headset software driver offers two useful microphone-related features: Voice Stabilizer and Static Noise Suppression. It's a good idea to use them both because they do a good job of making your voice louder and your environment quieter.

Overall, even though it faces some stiff competition in the $100 price bracket, such as the SteelSeries Arctis 5 (reviewed here) or the Cooler Master MH650 (reviewed here), the MSI Immerse GH61 is a good choice for your daily gaming and music listening needs. Even more so if you also own a pair of hi-fi headphones, but don't have a proper DAC/amp to drive them.
