The MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 features a 16+1+1 phase VRM configuration. These are setup with doublers for the power stages, resulting in every two receiving the same PWM signal from the controller by using doublers on the back of the motherboard.


MSI is using a Renesas RAA 229132 PWM controller to drive the MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 power stages.


The MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 uses Renesas ISL99390 power stages for the 16 Vcore phases. These power stages each support a maximum of 90 A of continuous current. For the VCCGT (iGPU) phase, MSI is using a single Renesas RAA 220075R0 75 A power stage.


On one end of the motherboard VRM is the VCCAUX power rail. This is using a Monolithic Power Systems M2940A PWM paired with a single MP87670 power stage.

The MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi DDR4 has a maximum output of up to 1,440 A dedicated to Vcore.
