Usage
To use the Myvu Personal Media Viewer, the iPod must have firmware version 1.2 or greater installed beforehand. Disconnect the stock earbuds and plug the Personal Media Viewer into the jack on the bottom of the iPod. Then put the unit on like a normal pair of glasses and place the earbuds into the ears. The Personal Media Viewer will take the audio signal out of the plug in the bottom of the unit.
The iPod needs to be configured to output video through the jack at the bottom, and this can be done through the iPod's menu:
Videos > Video Settings > TV Out > On
Videos > Video Settings > Widescreen > Off
At this point the Personal Media Viewer should be set up to receive video from the iPod. One thing to note is that the user still must navigate the iPod's menu from the iPod's display: it will only output podcasts and movies to the Personal Media Viewer, although all audio signals will go to the earbuds. The manual states the image viewing size is equivalent to 27 inch TV at approximately 2 meters (6.5 feet). Although I did not have a 27 inch TV to verify this, I can attest to the size being similar to viewing a 19 inch TV at somewhere between 5 and 5.5 feet. Image quality is good, although at first I had to do some adjusting with the in-line remote to get it to look right. A couple times I went too far on the adjustments and lost the image, but backing up on the controls brought the image back without a problem. Image quality is obviously heavily dependent on the video source, as some podcasts (like Photoshop Killer Tips) have lots of refresh lines do to poor screen captures, while others are as clear as day. The image is viewable in almost all lighting conditions, but sitting out in the mid-day sun can wash out the image somewhat. However, that can easily be overcome by wearing a hat, which you can easily do with the Myvu.
