A Closer Look - Outside
In terms of overall looks, the Deep Silence 5 Rev. B has not changed much visually. A plastic cover sporting an aluminum look has been placed on front. Nanoxia continues to offer a clean, understated design it coupled with potent functionality for this series of cases.
The two covers in front swing open to the right and are lined with sound-dampening materials. The top hides the drive bays while the bottom covers the fans. Turning the chassis around, the rear should make just how massive the Deep Silence 5 Rev. B is apparent, the layout pretty traditional.
Both sides of the chassis are completely solid and flat. Nanoxia placed some air vents on the front panel's sides to allow for fresh air to the fans there, however.
Taking a closer look at the front, there are two 140 mm fans at the bottom, behind the dust filters that also act as a frame onto which the cooling units are mounted. You may swing these open for easy cleaning or readily available access to any radiator you may have installed into the front. The four drive-bay covers in the top are easily removable, and you will also find the reset button and two separate fan controllers in the form of sliders here. These can power up to three fans each for a very respectable six fans in total.
The PSU bay in the bottom of the back comes with two sets of screw holes, which allows you to install the unit with its fan facing up or down. It is also lined with a thin layer of foam as an anti-vibration measure. Above the bay are the ten motherboard-expansion slots. Each of these is protected by its own cover. In the very top are a single 140 mm exhaust fan and four grommet-equipped water-cooling holes.
A dust filter covers the PSU's intake area. It may be pulled out through the rear without having to tip this behemoth over.
You will find all the connectivity on the front's top edge. The I/O includes the usual pair of audio plugs and two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 connector. The power button has been placed in the middle, and a ring around it lights up when the PC is turned on. Two large air vents in the rear of the top can be used for a 240 mm or 280 mm radiator or correspondingly sized fans. These air vents initially come with a cover to encapsulate sound as best as possible.
