Value and Conclusion

These versions cost $179–$209 from the Optimus Water Cooling webshop and other retailers for customers in the USA, as of the date of this article.

As with the Optimus Foundation CPU block, most things about the Optimus Signature V2 are impressive to me personally. So keep in mind that my thoughts may be influenced slightly by all the small things the company has incorporated here, including that behemoth metal unibody top, CNC milled ports, fittings with diamond bits rated to specification, high quality materials throughout to where the company is confident this CPU block will work well with most tap water even, their overengineered cold plate with extremely thin microfins and channels that are CNC machined, and that spring-less installation that provides for excellent thermal performance if done correctly. The company leverages a combined few decades of experience in various engineering fields to come up with a CPU block that is something patriots of the USA can be proud of and the rest of the world should be interested in.

At the same time, the company had an easy time with users doing most of the marketing for them to where they carefully do not say anything about their own performance results and instead tout threads on forums where users report 5–6 °C improvements over some other fantastic blocks with varying degrees of scientific testing having been done. Of course, some of this comes down to the CPU platform and heat output to be cooled, but I found both Optimus blocks to be within a single °C improvement relative to the next best performer, which itself is an equally new CPU block with a metal top! Testing the older installation method confirmed that the cooling engine works in symbiosis with the newer installation method, which is finicky to get right to achieve said results, so keep that in mind. The Optimus Signature V2 is currently the best-performing CPU block, however, which I suppose validates the company's claim of "If you want the best Intel CPU cooler on the market, the Signature V2 is it" on the product page.

There is so much going on here that talking about the block in a mere three paragraphs does not really do it justice. I do highly encourage going through the entire review and also checking out the review of their more affordable Optimus Foundation block as both are a good representation of this startup company as a whole, and the pricing is a stark reminder that you will be paying for all of this too. The Optimus Signature is definitely two to three times as expensive as other CPU blocks, and one and a half times that of the Optimus Foundation offering most of the cooling with different top options, too. You do get the option to go with cooling for a standard CPU IHS or a lapped one here for that extra bit of cooling, so you have to decide if this is worth it to you. I personally find the Optimus Foundation a better purchasing decision, with the Optimus Signature V2 the halo product demonstrating what the company can do.
