Initial Setup
Having no integrated lights can be a good thing, as not everyone wants RGB. These memory modules still stand out a bit, with the red Viper text in direct contrast to the black top. Patriot does sell an RGB version of this Viper Venom 7200 MT/s kit as well if DRAM lights are something of a necessity.
Enabling XMP Profile
The Patriot Viper Venom DDR5-7200 MT/s memory kit had no stability issues during the testing phase. However, a quick reminder that compatibility will greatly depend on the motherboard OEM. From testing various motherboards, it is advised to only use this memory with a Intel
Z790 based motherboard and a Intel
13th Generation Processor. This is because many
Z690 motherboards are not validated to supported 7200 MT/s by the motherboard manufacturer. Using a
12th Generation Processor with a
Z790 motherboard can also be problematic. This is because the Intel 12th Gen CPU internal memory controller (IMC) limitation lands anywhere between 6800 MT/s and 7400 MT/s using voltages that are good for daily usage. For best results, it is always suggested to seek out the motherboards manufacturer memory QVL list.
