Finished Looks

The Prolimatech Black Series Genesis looks great once installed. The fact that users must supply their own fans means that it can be made to fit any theme with relative ease. The extra cooling for the memory and VRM section above the CPU is also a nice bonus.

There is also room for a third fan at the back should a case allow it. The rear exhaust fan in most cases should, however, be sufficient.

Overall clearance is average at best. While it doesn’t block anything directly, it does make plugging the ATX 24-pin connector in more problematic as it extends over the plug. The heatsink does not extend over the 8-pin EPS plug.

Memory clearance is better than average as my additional Kingston Hyper-X Beast 2400 MHz memory kit fit in just fine. I can then confirm that memory modules of 48 mm in height or less will fit. Memory compatibility will be up to the end user to figure out, but kits of the Gskills Sniper and Ripjaw Z series will fit. You will then have room to spare if your memory is less than 50 mm tall, but it is still always best to double check.

One other thing potential users will want to keep in mind is that the Genesis does in fact block the first expansion slot, a PCIex1 slot, on my test system's MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming board. There is still enough room for a card to be installed; however, the PCB will rest against the cooler, which could cause the card to short out.
