QNAP TS-569 Pro Review

Software

You should put the bundled software disk into a drive and take a good look at the quick-installation guide before proceeding with NAS installation; that is, unless you have, like us, gone through this procedure many times and are intimately familiar with it. Besides the aforementioned guide, which we will check out later in this review, you will also find several useful utilities you should install on a client PC—namely, Qfinder (more on this one in the next page), NetBack Replicator, Qget, which allows you to manage BT/HTTP/FTP download jobs on your Windows PC remotely, and MyCloudNAS Connect.

NetBack Replicator allows you to easily backup your data from a workstation/client PC onto the NAS.

The MyCloudNAS application allows you to connect to QNAP's free personal cloud service.

Quick-Installation Guide

The quick-installation guide includes easy-to-follow instructions that are supported by intuitive schemes. It will, firstly, inform you about all the necessary components you will need, like a PC system, a network, some HDDs, and a screwdriver, before listing all of the packaged contents and guiding you through the process of installing the HDDs onto the trays, and that of connecting all network- and power cables. It will, finally, prompt you to turn the NAS on, describing all operating LED indicators.

The guide will also give you step-by-step instructions on more advanced topics like upgrading the RAM—a rather simple procedure.

The two methods through which the NAS can be configured are covered by the above illustrations.

These illustrations provide information on all buttons, indicators, and I/O ports found at the front and rear of the NAS.

It is now, after you have picked up on all these new facets pertaining to your NAS, time to figure out how to shut the unit down through the front power button (just press it for more than 1.5 seconds). Also, QNAP provides you with all the relevant contact information should you need any support.
