QNAP TS-569 Pro Review

Administration Interface Part#1 »

Quick Configuration

QNAP Finder, found on the bundled software disk, turns the installation of your new NAS server into a fairly easy procedure. This program will find the IP address of the NAS on the network and will check for any available firmware upgrades, since QNAP releases new firmware quite often. In our case, the NAS already had the latest firmware installed.

The setup wizard will help you configure the NAS easily and, above all, quickly. As you can see, it guides you through all the necessary steps in an intuitive way.

Just hit the "confirm" button once you have gone through all the necessary steps, and the settings will be applied to the NAS within a couple minutes.

Web Interface

The new web interface is, in our opinion, much simpler and nicer than its older iteration. As you can see, there are linked icons to the NAS's most important applications, including the administration interface. You can simply remove some of the linked icons you don't need through the administration interface.

The Download Station enables you to download files from BT (Bittorrent), HTTP, FTP, RapidShare, and Magnet links without the need of a PC. In other words, the files are directly downloaded to the NAS.

According to QNAP, the Multimedia Station is a web-based application for viewing photos, playing music or video on the NAS through a web browser, and sharing files through popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Plurk, Twitter, Blogger, and so on.

The Music Station is a web-based application that allows users to play their music files on the NAS or a media server, or listen to Internet radio stations through a web browser or a local USB speaker connected to the NAS. Music alarms can also be set with the local playback feature.

The Photo Station is a web album for organizing and sharing photos and videos on the Internet.

The Web File Manager allows the users to access the NAS through the Internet to manage its files through a web browser. You have to enable the service in "Administration" > "Applications”"> "Web File Manager" before using this application.
