QNAP TS-569 Pro Review

QPKG Software Packages »

Administration Interface Part#2

All extra applications that augment the NAS by enhancing its usability and features, normally found on a normal PC, are grouped into this category. The most interesting choice here is, without any doubt, the QPKG center through which you can install custom-made applications that are similar to various programs on PCs to the NAS. These QPKG packages are either released by QNAP or by third-party developers. All such packages are, to ensure their safety and ability to be installed/run properly, checked and approved by QNAP prior to their release.

The above screenshots depicts all available QPKQ applications.

The Backup group provides access to all backup settings and features of the TS-569 Pro. You can conduct remote replication to another NAS, backup to Cloud storage, an Apple PC, or an external disk. Here, you can also set the functionality of the copy button at the front of the NAS.

The External Storage Device folder provides control over external devices that are attached to the NAS through USB interfaces. You can format external storage devices to a variety of file systems, share a USB printer with the network, and set up a UPS.

These options allow you to set up the MyCloudNAS service QNAP offers to all QNAP NAS owners for free, and port forwarding on your router if the latter is UPnP.

The last folder of settings is pretty interesting, since it allows you to access crucial information about the NAS and check on the system's resources. The latter shows you CPU, memory, disk, and bandwidth usage, and lists all running processes.
