The TVS-463 uses a quad-core AMD G-Series SoC, the GX-424CC (Steppe Eagle). It runs at 2.4 GHz and has a TDP of 25 W. This SoC also includes a Radeon R5E GPU that "runs" at 497 MHz and an I/O controller. Another interesting feature of G-Series SoCs is the support for ECC (error-correction code) memory mostly utilized in enterprise-class servers. This TVS-463 model comes with 8 GB of memory, while the entry level unit only has 4 GB. The amount of memory can be increased to 16 GB should you need more.

The NAS can take up to four HDDs, and all popular RAID levels are supported. The storage capacity will only be 24 TB if you use four 6 TB HDDs and configure them in JBOD (just a bunch of disks/drives) or RAID 0 because all other RAID levels use one or more disks for data redundancy.

The I/O of this NAS includes two Ethernet ports and an optional 10 GbE port for which you have to purchase QNAP's corresponding expansion card. However, you also have to connect the NAS to a compatible switch in order to utilize the 10 GbE port and such a switch is unfortunately still incredibly expensive. There are also five USB 3.0 ports, of which one is in the front, and two HDMI 1.4a ports. The HDMI ports allow you to connect the NAS to monitors, so you won't actually need a client PC.

The TVS-463 is as big as a four-bay NAS should be, and the same applies to its weight considering it uses an internal PSU instead of a power brick. A single 120 mm fan handles its cooling; it doesn't have to spin fast to take care of the NAS. The provided warranty is only two years long, and we would like it to at least be three years long, while the price is high; however, the TVS-463 shares many features with higher-end QNAP NAS that cost even more.

The table above shows the TVS-463's available accessories.
