Shape

Ever since the release of the original Viper in 2019 (not to be confused with the one from 2004), its shape largely stayed the same throughout revisions. This changes with the Viper V3 Pro, which adapts many of the design principles devised for the DeathAdder V3 Pro. Most notably, the main buttons no longer extend across the entire width of the mouse, and are now framed by ledges, much like on other popular ambidextrous designs such as the Logitech G Pro X Superlight. In addition, the Viper V3 Pro is slightly longer, slightly wider around the middle, and no longer flares out as much at the rear compared to the Viper V2 Pro. Furthermore, the sides only curve inwards towards the (vertical) bottom and middle of the mouse, whereas the top retains its width almost across the entire length. Coupled with an increase in hump height, the Viper V3 Pro is more successful in filling the hand and providing palm support than the Viper V2 Pro was. In fact, the overall higher profile and bulkier silhouette brings the Viper V3 Pro closer to the Pro X Superlight, whereas the Viper V2 Pro was closer to the Zowie FK series. Among the few areas left largely untouched is the depth of the comfort grooves on the main buttons. Much like on the DeathAdder V3 Pro, whether one is on board with these changes will largely be a matter of opinion, as what is gained for some may be lost in another regard for others.

Compared to the Viper V3 Hyperspeed the only difference is the sensor position, as on the Hyperspeed, it was positioned more towards the front. The Viper V3 Pro goes back to a centered design, largely in line with where it was placed on the Viper V2 Pro.

As for grip styles, I'd say the Viper V3 Pro is mostly suited for palm and claw grip. It is a large mouse with a moderately pronounced hump, which should make it generally suit medium to larger hands. For reference, my hands are 19 cm long and 10 cm wide, and I found the Viper V3 Pro very comfortable in claw grip.

Dimensions

This table includes the dimensions of the Razer Viper V3 Pro and several other ambidextrous mice. "Front height" denotes the distance between the base and main buttons. Measurements with two decimals have been taken with a caliper, while those with one decimal have been taken with a ruler.
