Software
The Rosewill R2-Raid comes with a software program called Steelvine, which shows the status and allows the software configuration of the RAID arrays. The setup allows the user to receive pop up messages and SMTP alerts for various conditions.
Also from Steelvine, the user can view the event log that shows pertinent hardware information. Another window allows the firmware to be upgraded, while another allows separate backup software to be configured to use the "one-touch backup."
The RAID array type can be configured with the DIP switches located inside the unit, or they can be configured through the Steelvine software. To change the RAID type, there is a Configuration Wizard that allows the different settings, and the Advanced window allows even greater customization.
When in RAID 1 mode, the software can be configured to verify the drive data. When the designated time comes, the software automatically starts the verification process as shown in the second image above.
