Scythe got their start back in 2002 and has quickly expanded since then. Having become a well-known manufacturer of PC-cooling products, they offer unique coolers, fans, and accessories that have earned them a dedicated following. I am sure having a firm commitment to quality doesn't hurt either.

Any PC enthusiast who has been around for at least a decade has heard of Scythe, which is likely due to their much loved Gentle Typhoon fans. These fans are an enthusiast favorite for watercooling systems and have really helped push Scythe into the minds of enthusiasts the world over. Add to that their push to constantly update their current designs and you have a company that, while not flashy, has created their own niche in the market.

Which brings us to today's review of the Scythe Fuma: a short dual tower cooler that makes use of two 120 mm fans. While it's not unique, the fact that it has a maximum height of just 149 mm makes it an interesting option for those with limited space. Compact and affordable, it will be interesting to see how the Fuma performs, but let's take a closer look first.

Packaging

The Fuma comes in a box that measures in at roughly 16.8 cm long, 14.6 cm wide, and 15.8 cm high. On the front, you will find an image of, well, for the lack of a better term, smoke. Part of me thinks the Fuma should be named after the famous ninja Kotaro Fuma considering the smoke-like image on the front of the box. Instead, Fuma translates into immortality, which is also cool, I guess. Considering Scythe's use of Japanese history and famous images, e.g. Samurai on the Kabuto 3 box, I like my idea better. Okay, enough off-topic prattling. The left side details the cooler's specifications in various languages and has technical diagrams showing the cooler's size. Moving to the back, we find the warranty information for various regions in a multitude of different languages.


On the right side is a list of the cooler's various features, such as its twin tower design and optional triple-fan capabilities. It's on the box's top that you can finally see what the cooler looks like.

Scythe's Fuma comes packaged in a thin layer of cardboard inside the box. Honestly, the protection for the product is pretty much nonexistent. I would have liked to see some foam or a bit more space around the product for protection during shipping. Still, for a box designed to hang on a shelf, I suppose it helps to keep costs down.


The Fuma makes use of a high precision mounting system for a simple installation on most of today's CPU sockets. Everything needed is included.
