Introduction

Silent Hill 2 Remake is a ground-up rework of the cult classic Silent Hill 2, one of the most critically acclaimed survival horror games ever made. The remake introduces a third-person camera, a reworked soundtrack, and redesigned parts of the game, but overall, Silent Hill 2 Remake mostly follows the original in terms of story and gameplay.

You play as James Sunderland as he explores the fog-filled town of Silent Hill, its surroundings, as well as other hellish landscapes, searching for his deceased wife who somehow sent him a letter from the afterlife. The game is chock-full of otherworldly monsters and more subtle psychological horrors in all shapes and forms you will stumble upon during your tribulations.

Bloober Team, known for horror titles such as Layers of Fear, The Medium, and Blair Witch, is behind Silent Hill 2 Remake. While the studio hasn't managed to deliver a smash hit yet, Silent Hill 2 Remake might be their ticket to stardom.

The game was made in Unreal Engine 5 and features ray tracing, every major upscaling solution, UE5's Lumen and Nanite technologies, advanced physics for clothing simulation, and other high-end graphical goodies.

Our Silent Hill 2 Remake handheld performance review will analyze the game's performance on Steam Deck LCD and ASUS ROG Ally, offer optimized settings for both, and talk about out-of-the-box experiences on both Windows and SteamOS.
