A Closer Look
The Fera 2 HE1224 by SilentiumPC consists of forty-seven aluminum fins. Heat is transferred to the fins via four 6 mm heatpipes. This traditional tower-style heatsink weighs in at a moderate 555 g.
In order to keep costs down, users won't find elaborate pieces of plastic or crazy designs adorning this cooler. What is offered here is a simple, affordable, sturdy heatsink that eschews fancy looks for efficient cooling.
The heatpipes are evenly spaced apart and at the center of the fins for even heat distribution. The HE Technology SilentiumPC utilizes also makes sure the heatpipes are in direct contact with the CPU. A very efficient overall design, it won't be turning heads.
The base of the cooler is flat, with no gaps between the aluminum base and the heatpipes, and while smooth to the touch, machine marks are still visible.
The fan SilentiumPC has paired with the Fera 2 HE1224 is a PWM model with an RPM range of 500-1400. It makes use of a hydraulic bearing and features seven fan blades. Its wires are sleeved and have been heatshrunk, which is nice to see considering the cooler's affordable price.
