SilentiumPC's Fera 3 RGB sticks to the long-used and incredibly reliable single-tower design, and with good reason as it just works. In the stock configuration, this air cooler delivers ultra-quiet cooling with it hitting a maximum of 41 dBA in our tests with the fan spinning at its maximum RPM. This not only makes the SilentiumPC cooler one of the quieter options available in general, but it is also the quietest RGB-equipped cooler that I have tested thus far as well.

Speaking of RGB LEDs, they provide decent illumination here, especially the top plate illumination which proved to be even and accurate. Only the fan proved a bit off in terms of color with a slightly blue tint. However, it is only noticeable when the LEDs are set to white, and even then, the MSI motherboard overshadows it with the white trending from yellow to white or bluish white depending on the region of the board. Thus, the Fera 3 RGB remains an attractive and quiet cooler for those wanting their system to pop in the age of tempered glass cases.

While cooling performance isn't exceptional in any way, I would consider it alright considering the cooler's size. Where it excels is in performance per dollar as it handily takes the top spot in the chart. So while you won't be pushing extreme overclocks, you can expect a good-looking cooler that will deliver exceptional value with enough headroom for a mild overclock. That said, with the Intel i7-8700K pushed to 4.8 GHz at 1.3 volts, the Fera 3 RGB failed to keep the system from thermal throttling. This result is to be expected; if you want to tame a hot, overclocked processor, you will want something a bit beefier than the Fera 3 RGB. What SilentiumPC is offering here is a solid all-rounder that, yes, could perform better with a faster, louder fan, but instead delivers quiet computing with a bit of flair. The only thing I would like to see improved would be the mounting hardware. Currently, it works well, but a friction fit or screw-on spacers would hold the backplate in position and make installation a bit easier and more convenient.

Overall, the SilentiumPC Fera 3 RGB doesn't command attention like an all-in-one liquid cooler or large dual-tower air cooler, but what it does offer is low noise levels, decent performance, and exceptional value with RGB LEDs for good measure, earning it our budget award.
