SilverStone ALTA D1 Review

Packaging

Just like the Alta F1 and F2, the Alta D1 ships in a massive box with plastic clips which you have to remove to pull off the top packaging. On the larger panels there is a simple image of the chassis, while both sides go into details of the specifications and features in multiple languages.

Pulling the cover off, you are left with cardboard reinforced foam pieces which hold the chassis in place securely. The top one stayed in the cover part of the cardboard box leaving you with a tray in which the nearly 22 kg Alta D1 sits. A plastic bag has been used to further protect the case from scratches. On top of that, there is a large accessories box shimmed into the side of the package.

You will get an assortment of screws and a set of keys. Each bag is clearly labeled, but for some reason, two of them are in Chinese, so we had to use Google Translate to figure out what these are for. One bag is intended to secure the power cord extension lead and the other is meant for the GPU support bracket. You don't get a manual, as SilverStone has moved to providing them in a digital format on their website, but there is still a pamphlet around warranty terms.

A modular frame intended to provide one more multipurpose opening alongside that aforementioned power extension cord allows you to reduce the motherboard expansion slots from 11 to 7 and get that additional storage possibility. The GPU bracket can support up to four individual units, which will come in handy if you are stuffing a system full of GPUs or AI-focused expansions cards. Lastly, SilverStone also includes a fan bracket if you want to expand the cooling in the front of chassis, along with two covers, which will come in handy if you are opting to use certain spaces within the Alta D1 for liquid cooling for example.

SilverStone also sent along compact coasters to use during the review. These are named RAC-SRW-001 and is the one definitive hint of what the Alta D1 is based on, as these work with rack mountable cases like their RM51 and RM52 for example.
