A Closer Look

Without the fan, the Silverstone Heligon HE01 is 140 mm x 119 mm x 164 mm in size. Comprised of aluminum fins with copper heatpipes, the base materials in the heatsinks are also par for the course when compared to the competition. The six heatpipes used in the cooler's design are Ø6 mm in diameter and are arranged in a somewhat unique way. The biggest noticeable difference with the Heligon HE01, noticeable right away, is the asymmetrical design of the fin stacks. This design will find more appreciation with such sockets as the LGA1155 because it offers almost nothing of any real value to the LGA2011 socket, something I will detail a bit more later.

The overall design, while simple, still has a certain elegance to it. Sadly, the aluminum not being anodized means it is a fingerprint magnet. The size of the cooler is also something to be aware of; it may not be the largest but isn’t that much smaller than the Noctua NH-D14. This is especially true should users add extra fans to the Heligon HE01.

The fan Silverstone has paired with the heatsink is simply massive. It is currently the largest fan used on a cooler I have tested. At 140 mm x 140 mm x 38 mm, it is huge. The model number of the fan is SST-FHP141-H. Its rated airflow is 42.8-171 CFM. The fan also has a switch for performance- or quiet mode, with quiet mode on PWM offering 500-1200 RPM and performance mode offering 500-2000 RPM. Another nice addition are the sleeved fan wires—a small thing that really sticks out if missing, and Silverstone missed nothing with this fan.

The six heatpipes on the smaller of the two fin stacks extend up and through in typical order, as can be seen in the image. Going left to right, you will see them start straight at the base and go up through the smaller fin stack. The larger fin stack has the heatpipes crisscrossing a bit, which is somewhat unique if compared to the more traditional U-shape. The base itself could have used a little more polish, but that’s a, in all honesty, minor complaint. The overall build quality is impeccable.
