Installation
When installing the Silverstone Heligon HE01, the first step is to screw in the LGA2011 screws for X79 motherboards. Users on other sockets will need to install the backplate.
Once that is done, slide the Intel mounting bars into place before screwing them down using the supplied nuts. This will provide the base that the Heligon HE01 will attach to.
Users will want to apply the thermal paste at this point. I prefer the pea-sized-dot method, although spreading it works as well. Once the paste has been applied, place the cooler and screw the crossbar down. This part of the install can be fairly annoying but is actually not too bad. Just take some time to line the heatsink up before screwing it down by alternating between the two screws until it has been secured.
It’s now finally time to attach the fan to the middle of the heatsink. This is a fairly easy task with the supplied fan clips, but do make sure the fan-speed switch is facing up so you can actually get to it if needed. Once that is out of the way, simply attach the fan to the motherboard header and you're home free.
The overall process of installing the Silverstone Heligon HE01 heatsink could have been better. I would rate it a 6 on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest). The design is simple, but the crossbar having to be held in place while you line the heatsink up and screw it down can be troublesome for those of us with big hands.
