SilverStone PF120 AIO

SilverStone also sent us two types of CPU coolers that should fit into the SUGO 16. For liquid-cooling, there is the PF120, an 120 mm AIO with ARGB elements. It ships in a full-color cardboard box with an image of the unit on front and a detailed list of specifications on the back. Within the package, a cardboard inlay holds the different components in place.

You get both AMD and Intel mounting systems, and the latest LGA1700 socket is included, which is nice. As the fan and base of the PF120 have ARGB elements, you will also find a small inline controller within the box. It has the all the wires and adapter to easily add further lighting elements. On top of that, SilverStone doesn't simply pre-apply a layer of thermal paste to the base of the cooler, but includes a syringe with the compound, so you will have a bit of extra thermal paste for several applications.

SilverStone also includes an installation manual and some certification paperwork with the PF120.

The AIO sports a 120 mm radiator of a pretty traditional density. There is a fill port, so you may technically top off the unit over time as needed.

The CPU base has an embedded pump, and its housing features a mirror-finished surface, which will be lit by ARGB LEDs. The pump is powered by a 3-pin fan connector, while the lighting utilizes a generic 3-pin connector. SilverStone employs a square copper base that is screwed into place.

The 120 mm fan includes hub-mounted ARGB elements and four spines to hold the motor in place. Just like the pump, there are two wires, with the only difference being the PWM instead of 3-pin interface.

Taking a closer look at the blades of the fan, several elements go beyond the standard shape, and SilverStone padded the corners with rubber layers as an anti-vibration measure.

SilverStone AR12-TUF Air Cooler

Even though the SilverStone SUGO 16 is fairly compact, it provides plenty of room for 120 mm tower air coolers in regards to height. The SilverStone AR12-TUF is such a cooler and ships in a full-color box. It sports the unit on the front in all its glory, while the rear lists its specifications.

Just like the PF120, SilverStone provides all the necessary mounting hardware for both AMD and Intel. This includes a separate kit for LGA 1700. A basic, but informative instruction manual is also included. That said, looking at the mounting hardware, using it seems quite straightforward.

The tower heatsink utilizes four U-shaped copper heatpipes which are embedded into the aluminium base and directly touch the CPU. Its overall shape is slim enough, so there should be no issues with it when using standard-sized memory. Even tall kits should be fine as long as they are not too thick.

Even though the cooler is TUF branded, that really only applies to the 120 mm fan. More specifically, it boils down to the yellow rubber pads and sticker. A bit more to differentiate it from the classic AR12 would have been nice—I am sure TUF Alliance fans would have appreciated that. On top of that, the fan used in this version is quite different from what is found on the original, so they should not carry the same model number as the two coolers won't even perform identically.

Preparing the AR12-TUF for the Intel motherboard is actually really simple as you just attach the right mounting bars to the base of the cooler. Adding the fan is quite simple as well since you use the metal clips to snap it down on both sides of the heatsink.
