The Soundgraph FingerVU 706 is a very useful device and tries to combine the use of a secondary display with the functionality of an additional input device. Available in two versions with 4.3 and 7 inches, but in either black or white should make it interesting for both Windows and Apple users. A few design and technology choices do dampen the enjoyment of the screen. Soundgraph has chosen to use a resistive screen instead of a capacitive one. This means that you will find yourself using your fingernails instead of your fingertips and long for a stylus because it is just easier to use. Another somewhat frustrating aspect is the lack of adjustment possibility at which you view the display. The angle is just way too steep for everyday use. Luckily Soundgraph somewhat makes up for some of these shortcomings with a simple to use FingerUI application and the inclusion of the intuitive iMedian HD media center software. Overall, the FingerVU 706 is a great entry into the USB powered display market by Soundgraph, but there is still room for innovation and I am looking forward where the company will take the series with their upcoming products as it certainly has potential to become a valuable addition to everyone's desktop. Soundgraph is looking into making larger versions with network and wireless support in the near future and we hope to get a glimpse at them during Computex 2010 in June.
