Software
After installing the software, I was greeted by a pop up asking me to press any button on the remote control. After holding a button down for about 2 seconds, the receiver found the device and gave me control over the PC. Adding a second device was no problem at all. After hitting the "add" button I was able to add a second one. While I had two different registered remotes now, only one will work at a time. So you will be able to have two sets of iMON 2.4g remotes and receivers at home, without one interfering with the other.
Once the remote was up and running I was able to call up an Application Manager, which gave me a list of programs. That way I was able to open Winamp and start some music, which in turn triggered the equalizer on the VFD. Very nice!
Another interesting feature is the Task Switcher. It does exactly what the name implies. It lets the user change between programs which are currently running. I could do everything with the remote. It even has a virtual cell phone type keyboard, with each button triggering one of three characters. I could even change the resolution of the screen or set an alarm.
The second part of the software, is the iMedian, which is a home entertainment software allowing you to manage your movies and music from the couch with a simple interface.
