Value and Conclusion

  • The SoundGraph iMON 2.4g LT can be had for $99, while the iMON 2.4g DT costs $89 at Digital Connection. European readers can get them at quite a few etailers starting at around the same price, but in €uros.
  • Great and easy installation
  • PCI card components are very high quality
  • Intuitive controls
  • Very responsive remote control
  • A lot of functions on the remote, all specifically for controlling the PC
  • No complex setup after software installation
  • Comes with a solid software package
  • 2.4GHz has great reception even through thin walls.
  • Quite expensive
  • PCI back bracket does not fit correctly
  • Remote is quite small
  • Plastic feels a bit flimsy
  • Remote can only control device attached to receiver
The SoundGraph iMON 2.4g products may just be what you need, if you do not want to aim straight at the receiver all the time or have your PC standing in the room next door. It makes a perfect addition to any HTPC, considering that the official Windows MCE remote is based on an IR receiver. The question remains if the 2.4 GHz technology is worth $89 or $99 considering that the Logitech Harmony remotes start at $50 and come with an LCD screen, and just as many features. If you need multiple remotes in one household or office, the iMON 2.4g remotes are definitely the best choice, as they will not interfere with each other. So if you need the 2.4 GHz for what ever reason, you can grab these in a heart beat. If a normal IR PC remote does the job, these may be overkill. Especially for the price. Nonetheless, I can recommend the SoundGraph iMON 2.4g remotes if the price tag does not scare you and 2.4GHz is what you crave.
