The Case
The Quarterback is a standard size midtower case. The outside is black, with a silver front “door.” It’s not a true door in that it covers the front, but it adds the key styling feature to the case. At the same time, it has large openings to facilitate airflow. It does swing out of the way to allow access to all the drives.
The rear of the case shows the typical ATX layout, with the PSU located at the top of the case. There is a 120mm fan located to the right of the I/O panel. Although this fan uses a stamped grill, Sunbeam chose to use a honeycomb style to allow more airflow. Also, there are extra holes to allow the user to mount a 92mm or 80mm fan in place of the 120mm if desired. The left side panel is attached with two thumbscrews.
The only mentionable feature to the right side panel is the inclusion of front I/O ports. There are headphone and microphone jacks and two USB ports. There is a place meant to hold a IEEE1394 port, but that is not included.
The left side panel has a window with a 120mm fan mounted, and there are holes to mount a 92mm fan if desired. Below the fan there is a set of holes for the VGA vent. Overall the window seems small, and this is very evident when looking at the VGA vent. Most video cards would be installed in the top slot, but the VGA vent goes well above that. In an SLI or Crossfire configuration the lower card would get a lot less airflow around it.
The front door is held closed by magnets behind the front panel and screws located in the door. On the front panel there are several rubber pads to cover the magnets, keeping the area from getting scratched, and helping to reduce noisy vibrations.
