Packaging
We admit that we found the packaging's design a bit frustrating. Given it is the most powerful PSU to date, we expected something more macho than a butterfly, Super Flower's trademark, that covers the entire front of the box. Simply put, Super Flower didn't want to change the packaging by spending money on a new design, so they used the same as with all of their Leadex offerings. The most interesting bits of information on this side are the 80 Plus Platinum 230V EU badge and the capacity description in the bottom-left corner.
One side holds a brief features description while the other comes with a picture of the PSU in its two available colors. We got the black version, which will make taking pictures against a white backdrop rather easy.
A tiled graphic on the rear includes the product's most interesting features and an interesting, but rather small photograph of its internals. On the right side is the specifications table and a little below it is a graph with the fan's speed curve throughout the unit's entire operating range. Super Flower says the fan to start at 900 RPM and max out at 2000 RPM.
Contents
Packing foam protects the unit well, and it is also wrapped in a nice white bag with Super Flower's logo on it.
The bundle includes a bag for the modular cables, which will come in handy since many of them won't be put to use even if you plan on a high-end PC with multiple VGAs. There are also a very thick power cord with a C19 coupler and a set of fixing bolts for mounting the PSU inside the chassis. We would have liked some Velcro straps or zip ties, but Super Flower didn't include any.
Exterior
The overall design is exactly the same as with all other Leadex units, and we believe that it is well-nigh time for Super Flower to start experimenting with other designs. The punched-out fan grill makes for a unique looks, but it is starting to bore. The finish is of very high quality, and the surface is fairly scratch resistant.
Super Flower stamped their logo into one side. The other holds a sticker with the unit's power specifications.
Given this PSU has a capacity of 2 kW, the modular panel sports a plethora of sockets.
This is a real monster not only because of the 2 kW it can deliver, but also because it is large. 22.5 cm long, you should make sure that your chassis can accommodate it before making the purchase.
Cables
All cables are stealth, with black gauges, and the main ATX cable is very rigid because it uses 16 AWG wires, which will make routing it inside a chassis quite difficult.
Sleeving quality isn't among the best we have seen, and we noticed that the EPS and PCIe cables have capacitors for some extra ripple filtering. Super Flower apparently meant to provide even better ripple suppression, but there wasn't enough room to do so on the main or modular PCBs, which had them install additional capacitors on these modular cables instead.
