Packaging and Accessories

Our Symphonium Helios review unit was sent after another reviewer, and quite possibly others before them, tested it. As such, please account for this context, in case of any unboxing discrepancies compared to retail units. But from what I gather, this page is very representative of a retail Helios' unboxing experience. The product box is surprisingly small when compared to most other IEMs I've reviewed, the amount of metal inside makes it dense too. The box is predominantly black, with the company logo and product names spelled out on the front and a simple note detailing the manufacturing location on the back. This continues on the sides too, whereby we see the use of an external sleeve over an inner black box made of even thicker cardboard. Remove the lid and we finally get to see the contents inside! I quite like this clean and minimalist style, with the items placed inside a thick foam sheet, and a decorative metal badge for the premium experience. Note also the accessories seen in a separate pull-out compartment towards the bottom—very cool!

Inside the dedicated accessories box is a metal card in a brushed finish alongside a printed + hand-signed note from the guys behind Symphonium Audio. It adds a personal touch to the otherwise sterile experience ongoing, and I suspect those who are fans of the product will be fans of its makers too. Then come an assortment of ear tips also placed in a foam sheet and organized by type and size to make it quite easy to identify and use the ones you would like to. Symphonium Audio provides two types of silicone ear tips each in sizes S/M/L, with the white bore tips being popular, AZLA SednaEarFits they have a wider bore diameter compared to the red bore ones that I've seen included with other IEMs to good effect as well.

Now we get back to the machined case responsible for the product box being heavy for its size, it is a great example of the type of manufacturing and industrial design mindset Symphonium Audio presents. There is a nice juxtaposition of machining marks on the top and bottom and a polished finish on the side, with the company logo etched on the top for branding done well without being obnoxious. This is a two-piece hockey puck-style case with machined threads holding the lid secure and a silicone gasket adding some dust and spill resistance on top. The case inside is lined with soft fabric, preventing scratches to the primary items of interest, and you will find both the IEMs as well as the cable neatly placed inside. Needless to say then that the case is functional in protecting your IEMs, large enough to accommodate them along with spare tips, but can get scratched up as seen above and is certainly not pocket-friendly unless you are wearing cargo pants.
