Cloud Station

Cloud Station needs User Home service to be enabled in order to run properly. The Cloud Station app allows you to easily synchronize your files across multiple systems. Files will be locally available via the web and your Cloud Station folders. Cloud Station also supports file versioning (up to 32), selective sync, encryption, syncing between Synology NAS servers, etc.

The Cloud Station also allows you to sync the NAS with such popular cloud services as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon S3, etc.

QuickConnect & MyDS Center

The QuickConnect application allows you to access your Synology NAS from everywhere, utilizing the web. There is no need for a network configuration, like port forwarding or firewall rules, which is great for users that aren't even familiar with those terms.

QuickConnect is a part of MyDS Center. The latter is a service that allows you to quickly setup DDNS and QuickConnect services, which allows you to look the NAS up from anywhere over the web.

CMS

Synology's Central Management System, or CMS, allows for the management of multiple Synology servers from one location, which can be extremely useful to IT administrators who need to handle multiple NAS boxes at the same time. The interface is pretty simply, but provides all the necessary information and options. CMS allows you to monitor your system's status, disk health, and storage usage and includes the logs of all connected servers. You are also able to create server groups and define policies for each of those. When a NAS joins a group, it automatically adopts those policies and settings without an administrator having to apply them seperately.

CMS forwards all notifications on connected servers to the main server, giving the admin control over all of them. Since these NAS servers can create a ton of notifications, the admin can select whether and how these notifications will take place. CMS even has a remote update option for DSM and all application packages on those servers. All in all, CMS is a great tool for an IT admin that has to control and supervise multiple Synology NAS servers.
