QuickConnect
The QuickConnect application allows you to access your Synology NAS from everywhere via the web. There is no need for a network configuration, like port forwarding or firewall rules, which is great for users that aren't even familiar with those terms.
External Access
This menu allows you to add a Dynamic DNS (DDNS) service, set up your router, and set port-forwarding rules. Note that configuring port-forwarding rules requires you to assign a static IP address to the router, which takes administrative rights.
Network
The Network Settings tab allows you to team two Ethernet ports for a boost in reliability or speed. You can also manage and implement traffic-control rules should you wish to pre-determine which outgoing traffic is allowed when clients access services on your Synology NAS—these options also allow you to configure HTTPS settings or change port number(s) for DSM access.
This group of settings gives you the ability to set traffic control rules, create static routes, set the default http/https ports, enable secure connection to the web interface, and enable the Windows network discovery option.
Security
The Security menu will be of interest to users who store sensitive data on their Synology NAS servers. Set the logout timer, skip IP checking, improve protection against scripting attacks, and disable iFrame embedding in this menu. There is also a Firewall tab should you want to deny access to certain network ports by IP addresses. The Protection menu provides options to enhance each network interface's network security, while Auto Block can be used to block IP addresses with too many failed login attempts.
