Synology DS620slim 6-bay NAS Review

A Look Inside »

Packaging

The box is plain, with only a sticker describing the contents. It's sturdy enough to provide adequate protection; I don't mind the plain approach completely devoid of graphics.

Contents And Bundle

The bundle includes everything but the drives of course, which you will need to acquire separately.

Exterior

At the front, most of the real estate is covered by the drive bays. The power button is at the top and in the middle, with LED indicators on the right and left.

Synology's logo has been put on this side.

Both USB 3.0 ports are on the back because there is no space at the front. There are also two Ethernet ports along with a Kensington lock and the DC input.

The trays are plastic and lack any sound dampening material. They do have locks of low quality, as the key and the lock mechanism are made out of plastic.

I cannot say that I was satisfied by the Seagate SSDs the NAS came with since one died after about a week of testing. Given the high price tag and bold statement that they are suitable for NAS servers, I definitely didn't expect that.

The power adapter can deliver up to 65 W of power. Its model number is EA10681Y-120, and it is made by EDACPOWER Electronics, a Taiwan-based company.
