The SNMP service allows users to monitor the server's network flow through the appropriate management software.

You can modify the network settings of your NAS from here. Since the DS713+ has two LAN interfaces, you can combine them to increase transfer speeds. However, a compatible switch with IEEE 802.3ad protocol is needed. If your switch doesn't support the aforementioned protocol, you can select Network Fault Tolerance mode, where the system will use LAN 2 to provide the service if the LAN 1 port becomes unavailable. Finally, DSM 4.2 supports the IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack scheme. This means that both IPv4 and IPv6 can operate simultaneously.

You can configure various settings of the DSM operating system through these options.

Here are all necessary regional options.

You have the option to set DSM to notify of any status changes or errors via e-mail, SMS, mobile devices, Windows Live Messenger, or Skype. These could, for example, include a connection loss, behavioral fan change(s), power failure, a storage volume running out of space, backup and restoration failure, etc.

The Hardware icon/option of the control panel allows you to adjust power recovery settings, set the fan's speed mode, tamper with beep control, enable UPS support if your UPS allows for network control, create an operational schedule for the NAS, and, finally, adjust HDD-hibernation modes. You can also set system-hibernation to start 60 seconds after HDD hibernation is triggered.

You are able to control external devices, like USB and eSATA ones, through this option. You can also set the copy-button's function, located at the front of the NAS, here.

You can connect to A2DP Bluetooth devices by connecting a Bluetooth adapter to the NAS.

You should be careful with this menu since it allows you to reset the NAS to its default settings, which would erase all the data stored on it.
