Best Gaming Chairs 2017

Winner: noblechairs ICON PU Faux Leather

In 2017, we were fortunate enough to evaluate an abundance of chairs. Some were expensive while others addressed mainstream users. One of these did leave an unforgettable impression on us due to its looks, ergonomics, and overall build quality, and it just so happened to be the latest addition to our review database, the noblechairs ICON with 100% vegan PU faux leather for $370. Its unique design takes this chair a step beyond what we have seen thus far. The ICON is enforced with a solid steel frame and uses high density 55% stable cold foam, which makes for a firm and durable chair capable of supporting someone with a weight of up to 150 kg (331 lbs). Its black upholstery may not be out of real leather, but looks and feels uncannily like it, and its perforations promise the sort of breatheability it takes to keep one from sweating. A shimmering glow also pours through the upholstery's perforations for a nice visual touch that differentiates the ICON from its competitors. noblechairs has managed to forge a fine reputation for itself with its pricey leather gaming chairs in such a short period of time. However, they have proven that they can create quality products that are reasonably priced as well.

Runner-up: Secretlab Titan

Long hours of gaming or working are best done in a chair that will support you well by making sure you are seated in an upright position to relieve the pelvis area. An adjustable lumbar-support system and a sturdy chair are the means to do so. Our runner-up for best gaming chair of 2017 is thus Secretlab's Titan. The Titan has an integrated and adjustable lumbar-support system and is made out of single, uncut high-density cold-cure molds. Since its lumbar-support system can be adjusted through a knob to have it meet each user's needs, the natural curvature of the spine is maintained and supported without any unnecessary pressure on the back. The chair's black PU upholstery is of excellent quality and seems to be pretty resilient. This chair can hold someone with upward of 130 kg, and its backrest and seat are spacious enough as well. With a $359 promotional price, Secretlab has created an optimal chair ergonomically for those with back problems.

Looking forward to 2018

We are all unique and do, as such, have specific needs. Our conclusion after taking into account a lot of feedback on the way is that a chair made out of a resilient mesh is probably the finest choice when it comes to meeting those specific needs. Chairs out of mesh are flexible and easily adapt to any body type, which has them offer the comforts one would anticipate. Mesh also allows for great air-circulation, which means you won't sweat in even hot environments. We would, as such, like to see more chairs out of a mesh material. Lumbar support and a good headrest, or good neck support, are also vital. Having head- and lumbar support be adjustable so as to be properly utilizable by all users, tall or short, is important as well since most users spend countless hours a day in their chair. A tall backrest with a fully adjustable up/down and forward/backwards function in combination with a headrest that is capable of a tilt would be great also. As for lumbar support, complete spinal support with an emphasis on the pelvis, lumbar vertebrae, and upper body would be best. A synchronous mechanism (synchro tilt) that would allow both the backrest and seat to follow a user's movements is also to be recommended. Aesthetically, we certainly expect something other than the omnipresent bucket-seat design most chairs adhered to in 2017. 2018 will be totally awesome if companies manage to offer all of these things at a reasonable price!
